A few weeks ago we started a really fun project with Central Illinois Tourism, documenting stories along the Illinois stretch of Route 66. This was a much larger undertaking than our National Road project from last year, and we were excited take on the challenge.
The first subject was Ernie Edwards of Lincoln, IL. He is the oldest subject in this project (94!), and had some interesting stories to share.
As I have spoken with others to line up interviews, one thing has stood out to me with all of them. They all have so much passion for Route 66, and are so excited to share that passion. One gentleman that I spoke with today said “I will do anything for The Road.”
Now some may think that this is funny, because it’s just a road. But thats not what is important. These people have found something that they are passionate about, devoted much of their lives to it, and want to share that passion with others. And we are enjoying being a part of that.
