Sts. Joachim & Ann Care Service

Jered Schneider : November 30, 2012 5:12 pm : Blog

For the last 31 years the staff and volunteers at the Sts. Joachim & Ann Care Service center have been helping the people of St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren country.  People who have lost their home, need a meal, help with the rent or can’t afford a Christmas gift for their children all have turned to the Care Service.

We were first introduced to Sts. Joachim & Ann Care Service by one of their board members, Tony Glavin.

During this project we learned about all that the care service accomplishes for people. We heard dozens of success stories. People who were in a place of serious need who are now living productive and successful lives.

If you are inspired to help others we encourage you to contact Sts. Joachim & Ann Care Service center.

Bartenders Brawlin’

Jered Schneider : November 14, 2012 9:37 pm : Blog

We love competition. Competing aganist an opponent, the scoreboard, or your best self, we love it all. At Pounds Media we believe that it brings out our best work.

That is why we were so excited to be a part of this Bartenders Brawl project.

The premise was simple, a variety of amature boxers and mixed martial arts fighters were going to get three rounds to compete in the most primal sporting event.

Each fighter worked full time in a local nightclub or bar. They had trained for months at various gyms with professionals, preparing to compete at their highest level.

The event took place at the Ameristar Casino in St. Charles, MO. It was a perfect venue for this event. The intimate seating provided a ruckus atmosphere that raised the sense of importance for each fight. Check out our video from this event, and let us know what you think!

The song we used was Momentum by Evan Andree

4th Quarter

Jered Schneider : September 21, 2012 4:29 pm : Blog

It all comes down to this, a final weekend to achieve our goal and get this documentary Kickstarted.

Every player who steps on a football field, has dreams to play professionally. This documentary tells the story of a former 8-man and NCAA Division III player’s attempt to make this dream come true.

Why Better is compelling is that the story is about more than football. It’s about adversity, pride, humility, distrust, forgiveness, family and football. It’s a story that took us all across the country and halfway around the world. Better is a film that will inspire you to look at the goals and dreams in your life and reflect, “Am I getting Better?”

The best part about supporting this project is what you’ll get in return! A digital copy of the film, a DVD, t-shirt, poster and so much more!

Thank you to those who have backed us so far, your support means a lot to us.

So please, support, share and spread the word. On Twitter use #BetterDoc to join the conversation.

Arial view - Pounds Media

In the last few months, our work on our upcoming documentary “Better” has brought us all around the US, and halfway across the world.

Last week I traveled to Finland to shoot another important aspect of our story for Better. The subject of our film, Dom Kegel, is playing professional (American) football in Seinajoki, Finland. The purpose of this trip was to document Dom’s expérience there, and to also shoot a game.

The travel was intense, and in my quick 4 day trip, I covered 4528 miles by car, plane, bus, train, bike, skateboard, and foot. But it was a great trip.

Finland is beautiful. It is heavily forested, mild temperature, and so far north that the sun never sets. The people there are very friendly, love good food and long drink, and are all very excited and supportive of our project.

There was an exciting development to our story while we were there. Dominic’s wife Susan, who is currently traveling the world as she serves in the US Air Force, had something special to share with Dom via Skype, and we were fortunate enough be there to capture it.

Congrats Dom and Susan!

Now that we are past the halfway point in our filming, we are in preperations to launch a Kickstarter campaign to finish this project. We hope that our hard work and financial commitment to complete half of this film will show good faith that, with some help, we can comeplete this project and impact a lot of people in a postive way with this film.

Thanks again to everyone for the continued support of this project, and we are excited to release more clips as we progress.

Jered
